If you’re a runner or other type of athlete who’s spent any time reading about your sport online, you’ve probably come across compression garments. These are specially designed clothing (tanks, shorts, pants, socks, etc.) that are elasticized in all the right ways to keep your body compact. Today I’d like to introduce you to my favorite compression garment of them all, the CEP compression calf sleeve.
We carry CEP compression garments including calf sleeves and running socks because CEP is one of the top names in athletic compression garments. They’re backed by cutting-edge research and their products wear well and last a long time. And personally, I like the snazzy color options. I’m not afraid of that hot pink!
Compression garments are known to increase lymphatic circulation and blood flow, which translates into higher energy, greater endurance, faster recovery times, and a lower risk of injury. The higher lymphatic and blood flow from compression are beneficial because the compressed vessels are forced to work a little harder while being better supported – more oxygen gets in and stays in, while more waste is shunted out and kept out. Muscles work more efficiently and are able to produce more energy. This means faster runs, less swelling, and less soreness (and less “impact shake”) to recover from.
I stick to low-impact exercise, so I’m not a runner; that said, I still love the boost that compression calf sleeves give. I find my legs are less swollen – that’s the circulation aid at work – and less fatigued after a long ride. I’ll even wear them around the house or around town, if it’s an especially busy day involving a lot of standing, walking, hauling, etc. And while I’ve never tried this myself, I do know people who will sleep in their compression socks with foot and calf compression after a particularly long or hard run; they say this gives them “fresh legs” the next day, instead of “day after a long run” legs.
Have you ever tried a compression calf sleeve? Whether you’re new to the concept or an old pro at using compression garments for legs, we’ve got the right product for you.
